Hayley Alexander

Hayley began her career as a classical ballet dancer, graduating from the prestigious Australian Ballet School with an Advanced Diploma in Dance in 2001. She went on to complete comprehensive Mat and Studio Pilates training through Polestar Pilates in Sydney.

In 2005, she founded Alexander Pilates on Darby Street in Newcastle. After five successful years, the studio closed when Hayley relocated to London, where she quickly established herself in the Pilates community. She taught at some of the city’s most respected studios, including Moss Pilates (Liverpool Street), Triyoga (Primrose Hill and Chelsea), and Frame (Shoreditch). While at Frame, Hayley served as both instructor and manager, where she created and launched the studio’s signature barre classes—among the first to appear in London.

In 2013, Hayley moved to Amsterdam and joined The Movement Practice as an instructor, teaching private and small group equipment classes, mat classes, pregnancy, and mother-and-baby sessions. During this time, she also studied Classical Pilates—the original method developed by Joseph Pilates—in The Hague.

In 2014, Hayley expanded her expertise by completing a 200-hour yoga teacher training with Yandara Yoga in Bali.

The following year, she opened her second studio, Yoga Factory, in Antwerp, Belgium. A larger venture than her first, Yoga Factory offered Reformer and studio Pilates classes alongside a diverse group schedule featuring barre, bounce (trampoline/rebounding), power yoga, mat Pilates, dance fitness, and functional training. The studio gained national recognition, with features in Marie Claire and ELLE Belgium.

Dedicated to continuous learning, Hayley regularly attends advanced training, workshops, and conferences. Highlights include the Balanced Body PILATES ON TOUR conference in London (2018) and BASI’s Pilates for Postnatal Recovery workshop (2022).

In 2021, Hayley returned to Australia, bringing her signature teaching style back home and re-establishing Alexander Pilates—now a boutique studio located on Dudley Road in Whitebridge.
